In light of the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (renamed: COVID-19) outbreak, Skillseed recommends the following actions to be taken for Skillseed courses conducted from Mar 2020 onwards:

BEFORE the course

  1. For Course Participants who exhibit respiratory symptoms

    1. Inform Skillseed of her or his current health status and situation.

    2. If a course participant exhibits respiratory symptoms such as cough, fever, and/or runny nose within 14 days prior to the trip departure/course start date, the participant should immediately visit a medical clinic to receive treatment and a prognosis.

    3. If a course participant is participating in an overseas course and has an existing allergy and/or sinus issue that results in symptoms similar to that of COVID-19’s, we highly recommend that the participant obtain a doctor’s note indicating the all-clear to travel overseas. This documentation will serve as proof that the participant is fit to travel in the event that immigration authorities in the host country request for documentation.

    4. If the participant does not obtain a doctor’s note and clearance to travel, or remain unwell up to the departure date, Skillseed would strongly advise against travelling due to the following possible consequences:

      1. Quarantine upon arrival in host country

      2. Denial of entry upon arrival in host country

    5. If the participant still chooses to continue on the course despite our recommendations, she or he will do so at her or his own risk.

    6. Participants who decide to withdraw from the trip will be subjected to the Refund / Cancellation policy as stated in our terms & conditions.

  2. For Course Participants with recent travel history to mainland China

    1. If a course participant had recently travelled to mainland China after 31 January 2020 and was placed on a mandatory 14-day leave of absence from the day of their return to Singapore from mainland China, she or he is required to declare this travel history to Skillseed.

    2. If a course participant’s mandatory leave of absence extends until or beyond the course start date, the participant will not be allowed to continue on the course and will be subjected to the Refund / Cancellation policy as stated in our terms & conditions.

    3. If a course participant is participating in an overseas course, the participant may not be allowed to continue with the overseas course due to reasons stated in 1.3 and 1.4 (above).

  3. Procurement of Insurance Coverage (for overseas courses)

    1. Participants are required to procure travel insurance that provides sufficient coverage.

    2. We highly recommend that participants check if their travel insurance covers trip cancellations and/or the medical expenses and evacuation benefits for COVID-19 related emergencies during the overseas course.

      DURING the course

  4. Precautionary measures to be put in place for an OVERSEAS course:

    1. Pre-trip packing list

      • Participants will be required to bring their own thermometers and ensure that their thermometers are in good working condition.

      • Participants are advised to bring their own face masks to be used if they fall ill during the course.

      • Participants are advised to bring their own hand sanitisers in the event that hand-washing facilities are not available.

      • Trip chaperones are advised to bring protective gear such as face masks. Skillseed facilitators will be similarly equipped. This is in the event that we will be required to assist participants who fall ill during the course.

    2. During the overseas course

      • If the course is held in a host country / state / location with the risk of local community spread as indicated by credible sources such as the host country authorities, the following measures will be implemented:

      • Groups will be kept to sizes of 40 pax per course.

      • If the overall group size is more than 40, Skillseed will increase the facilitator-to-student ratio and segregate the group into smaller teams for briefings and activities to minimise the risk of infection.

      • We will implement thrice-daily temperature taking (e.g. start of the day, lunch, and end of the day).

      • Safety briefings will be conducted at the start of each course day. We will include and emphasize specific precautionary measures with respect to COVID-19 (e.g. more frequent hand-washing, avoid touching of the face, etc.).

      • As much as possible, we will select and arrange for course venues to be well-ventilated and equipped with facilities for hand-washing.

      • If a participant falls ill with COVID-19-like symptoms, we will immediately isolate the participant from the group. A trip chaperone and Skillseed facilitator will wear appropriate protective gear and accompany the participant to the nearest medical facility. We will adhere to our usual chain of communication with the school and family members of the participant in such an event.

  5. Precautionary measures to be put in place for a LOCAL course:

    1. Things to bring

      • Participants will be required to bring their own thermometers and ensure that their thermometers are in good working condition.

      • Participants are advised to bring their own sanitisers in the event that hand-washing facilities are not available.

      • Trip chaperones are advised to bring protective gear such as face masks. Skillseed facilitators will be similarly equipped. This is in the event that we will be required to assist participants who fall ill during the course.

    2. During the local course

      • Groups will be kept to sizes of 20 pax per course.

      • If the overall group size is more than 20, Skillseed will increase the facilitator-to-student ratio and segregate the group into smaller teams for briefings and activities to minimise the risk of infection.

      • We will implement twice-daily temperature taking (e.g. start of the day and lunch).

We will adhere to our usual chain of communication with the school and family members of the participants in such an event.
